FIG Chagrin — where FIG stands for "Found Inspired Goods" — is a globally curated vintage and antique marketplace occupying a two-story 1920s brick building at 23 South Franklin Street in the heart of Chagrin Falls village. Opened in April 2023 by co-owners Caroline Galloway, Dottie Lofquist, and Donna Cody, the shop was born from a shared passion for collecting, world travel, and the conviction that every great antique comes with a story worth telling. Within its first year, FIG earned Cleveland Magazine's "Best Antique Shop" designation and Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite status across sixteen communities in Northeast Ohio.

The three co-owners bring complementary backgrounds to the operation. Galloway, a Chagrin Falls resident who travels extensively for work, describes the collecting instinct as something inherited — her parents dragged her to auctions every weekend as a child. Lofquist and Cody are also local to the area. Before FIG, all three had been doing shows and maintaining booths at various venues, eventually realizing that a permanent shared space would allow them to curate at a scale and quality level impossible in temporary setups.

The 4,000-square-foot space spans both floors of the building, which previously housed Fussy Cleaners. The choice of location was deliberate: Chagrin Falls, a charming village known for its waterfall, walkable downtown, and community of independent shops, provides the kind of setting that complements the provenance-driven approach FIG takes to buying and selling. The 1920s architecture of the building itself adds a layer of period authenticity to the experience of browsing vintage and antique goods.

What distinguishes FIG from a typical antique mall or consignment shop is the sourcing. Galloway and Cody are world travelers who source inventory from across the globe — European antiques, one-of-a-kind pieces with documented histories, and items that defy easy categorization. The inventory at any given time might include 18th-century columns originally from the Church of England (a set that once graced Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's foyer), Fred Hugo oil paintings, Ohio pottery, antique jewelry, vintage textiles, furniture, clothing, artwork, rugs, books, architectural elements, and locally sourced artisan goods like hand-poured candles. The store's tagline, "Expect the Unexpected," is not marketing fluff — it reflects a genuinely unpredictable inventory driven by what the owners discover in their travels rather than what is trending in the marketplace.

Provenance matters deeply to the FIG team. As Galloway told Cleveland Magazine, they spend significant time researching the history of items before putting them on the floor. Knowing where something came from — its country of origin, its previous ownership, its era — adds to both the monetary and emotional value of a purchase. This curatorial approach elevates FIG beyond treasure-hunting into something closer to a gallery experience, where each piece comes with context and narrative.

The marketplace model also includes curated spaces from guest vendors. Natalie Fox, for example, curates a section of the store with her daughter Jillian Crawford, adding another layer of personality and variety. This approach keeps the inventory fresh and diverse while maintaining the overall aesthetic coherence that the owners have established.

FIG Chagrin operates on a focused schedule: Wednesday and Thursday 11am to 6pm, Friday and Saturday 11am to 5pm, closed Sunday through Tuesday. The limited but consistent hours reflect the boutique nature of the operation — this is not a seven-day-a-week warehouse, but a curated destination that rewards planned visits. Chagrin Falls itself, located about 25 miles southeast of downtown Cleveland, offers excellent dining, galleries, and the iconic waterfall in the center of town, making a FIG visit easy to combine with a broader Chagrin Falls outing.
